Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson confirms he will star as anti-hero Black Adam in the upcoming DC Comics film

article-0-2106CCEC00000578-62_634x884After building anticipation over whether he will play superhero Shazam or his arch-nemesis Black Adam in the upcoming DC Comics movie adaption, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has finally  announced his decision.
'"Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot." My honor to become.. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics,' the 42-year-old actor tweeted on Wednesday, confirming he'll play Black Adam in the forthcoming film.
Along with the tweet was a fierce picture of his villainous role.
Dwayne's decision shouldn't come as a shock, as the star told The Associated Press last month that he has always been a fan of anti-heroes and one of his favorite DC Comics characters is Black Adam.
Appearing in Mexico City to promote Hercules, Johnson said he will make sure comic fans are not disappointed.
'I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role,' he said.
Black Adam is 'a champion turned villain whose quest for dominance over all magic drives him to destroy anything that stands in his path,' as described on DC's website.
The anti-hero's powers include super strength, flight, invulnerability, super-speed, superhuman hearing and magic.
Variety reports production has yet to being, but Darren Lemke is set to write the script for the film.
'We Love Dwayne and have had nothing but success with him over the years,' Toby Emmerich, President and COO of New Line said.
'When I look at Dwayne both off screen and on screen, he is such a larger than life character and it just made perfect sense to me that we put him in a DC comic movie.
'You look at these comic book characters and they have this certain swag and charisma that Dwayne carries with him where ever he is so that’s why this always made sense.'
